Özet: Bu çalışma, Kehinde Wiley’nin A Maze of Power başlıklı portre serisinde klasik Avrupa kraliyet ikonografisinin nasıl postkolonyal bir bağlamda yeniden kodlandığını incelemektedir. Araştırmanın amacı, Afrikalı devlet başkanlarını konu alan bu portrelerde iktidar temsillerinin hangi biçimsel dönüşümlerle üretildiğini, bu temsillerin nasıl müzakere edildiğini ve izleyicide postkolonyal karşı-bakış üretme potansiyelini analiz etmektir. Yöntem olarak Erwin Panofsky’nin üç aşamalı ikonografik analiz modeli kullanılmıştır. Bu yöntemle her bir portrenin görsel öğeleri (preikonografik), sembolik anlamları (ikonografik) ve kültürel-ideolojik alt yapısı (ikonolojik) sistematik olarak çözümlenmiştir. Bulgular, Wiley’nin klasik ikonografiyi bozarak siyah öznenin temsiline alan açtığını, batıya ait güç imgelerini ters yüz ederek onları postkolonyal özneye ait bir görsel dile dönüştürdüğünü göstermektedir. Böylece bu portreler, yalnızca bireysel kimliğin değil, kolektif tarihsel belleğin de yeniden yazımına hizmet etmiştir.
